If you don’t already know, you have an enemy who is out to get you and your family. He is sneaking around, telling lies, and preparing his schemes. And unfortunately the world has fallen prey to so many of his traps.
Don’t do the same.
Because if you are a child of God you are called to walk in righteousness and holiness. You are are covered and protected by our Heavenly Father. And through Him you can overcome the schemes of the enemy.
But how do you equip yourself to not be fooled by the enemy and his lies?
Well let’s look at Scripture. Our Savior and greatest example overcame the enemy in Matthew 4.
The enemy came to the Lord and tempted Him with three things: physical needs, eternity, and riches. And I feel like we are tempted with the same subjects almost daily.
We are so easily tempted with physical needs or wants. And everyone questions eternity at some point in their lives. Some more than others. For riches, just take a step back and look at our culture. Everyone seems to be chasing the next greatest thing.
But even though we are tempted we do not need to fooled into believing what the enemy dishes out.
We can combat his temptations with Scripture. Just like Yeshua did in the fourth chapter of Matthew. He came back at the enemy’s foolish temptations with Scripture. Even when the devil used Scripture against Him, He combatted it with truth.
That is how we should be equipping ourselves to not be fooled by the enemy. We need to know our Bibles backwards and forwards.
Because our enemy knows it that well. Why shouldn’t we?
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psa. 119:105)
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Heb. 4:12)
You get the idea.
And I want to say that it doesn’t matter what season of life you’re in. You still need to get in the Word of God so you can be ready for the attacks that the enemy will come at you and your family with. Don’t become lukewarm during this time.
Because the enemy is prowling around seeking anyone to devour.
