The concept of anointing is a physical act of welcoming God’s Spirit in. All throughout the Bible we see the places or people that were anointed with oil were a representative of our Lord—the temple, David, Jacob’s altar, etc.
This acting of anointing things with oil is very sacred and is honestly kind of forgotten in today’s mainstream church. But when you dive into learning more about it, it’s such a beautiful act.
And I believe as wives and mothers we should be anointing our homes on a regular basis.
If you want to know more or how to even begin anointing your home I’m going to share a few steps with you.
But first, let me say that there’s no right or wrong way to do this. If you’re coming from a heart of surrender and worship to the Lord then He’s going to hear your prayers.
And secondly, you don’t have to use oil to pray. God will still hear your prayers no matter what. But having the symbolic act of anointing with oil can be so special.
Alright, here is how I anoint my home.
1) start by praying for protection over your home and for the Lord’s Spirit to fill it.
2) anoint your doorposts and windows with your oil.
3) use the oil to anoint your furniture, tv, cars, family members, and anything else you feel led to pray over.
4) pray scripture over your home as you’re using the anointing oil.
5) pull out the anoint oil and start praying whenever you feel spiritual warfare in your household, when you want to welcome God’s presence, or whenever else you feel led to.
That is just a few ways on how to anoint your home.
Follow all of it or none of it. I just hope it inspires you to regularly pray over and anoint your home.
It’s such a beautiful act of welcoming God’s Spirit into your dwelling and allowing His presence to thrive within your walls.
In His amazing love,
Hannah Marie
This is so good! I’ve been feeling led to anoint as well. Especially my son when he is fussy (he is teething), and I have seen a big difference! I love seeing His peace flood our home as a result. Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you! I am trying to get into the same habit with my boys. It really does change the atmosphere and it’s so easy to welcome God’s peace that way!
