How to Get Yourself in Order to Serve Your Family Better

We’ve all been there, feeling the frustration of taking care of our homes.

If you’ve been a homemaker and mother for any amount of time you have more than like experienced this. It’s easy to fall into anger, exhaustion, and complaining when you are always cleaning, preparing, and homemaking over and over again. It feels like it never stops and that gets frustrating.

But I want to encourage you in your homemaking and tell you that you don’t have to live with this mindset. Homemaking doesn’t have to be frustrating.

We are serving our families which is a beautiful thing. And we need to get ourselves in order so we can serve our family better.

Romans 12:2 tells us, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

That should be our mindset all day every day. As we go about our homemaking and mothering we need to do it with a renewed mind that is focusing what is good, acceptable, and perfect so that we can bless God by our service to our families.

To get ourselves in order we must first align our hearts with the Lord’s.

We need to be grounded in His Word, meditating on His truth all throughout the day, and have a desire to serve Him with whatever we do.

We are servants to our families and those around us just like our Savior acted as a servant when He walked on this earth. He is our greatest example on how we need to live.

So if you’re walking in His ways you will be able to get yourself in order and your life will be a reflection of Him.

Your speech will be gracious and seasoned with salt. Your mindset will be calm and filled with truth. And your actions will be gentle and caring towards your family and your home.

And when you get yourself in order you will start seeing how much your life is bearing fruit.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.“ (John 15:4-5)

Apart from the Lord we are nothing. We cannot be the homemakers, wives, and mothers we need to be. Only with God will we be able to serve our families well.

So when that frustration creeps in this week from always having to pick up your kids messes, having to do extra laundry, trying to figure out what to cook for dinner, or maybe not having a minute to yourself remember that you are not living for yourself but for God. And with Him you can reset your mind and get yourself in order.
