What Scriptures to Pray While You Anoint

There have been so many times when I just didn’t have words to pray. That is when I love to turn the Scripture so I can pray God’s Word back to Him. And I love praying Scripture any time I am anointing my home or family.

If you’re lost on what to say, where to even begin with anointing, or what verses are best for praying over your home I completely understand. I was in the same place a little over two years ago.

But I want to encourage you to just start. Grab some oil (olive oil out of your pantry will work just fine!) And start praying over your home and family.

Use these scriptures to pray while you anoint but don’t stop there.

Let the Holy Spirit lead you with what to say and pray. God wants to hear what’s on your heart and mind too. But don’t be afraid to start with Scripture to get you started on this anointing journey.

Numbers 6: 24-26

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for [the Lord is] with you; be not dismayed, for [He is] your God; [He] will strengthen you, [He] will help you, [He] will uphold you with [His] righteous right hand.

Matthew 6:30-33

But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Psalm 91:4-6 (honestly the entire chapter)

For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Philippians 4:8

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Isaiah 54:17

No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.

2 Thessalonians 3:3

But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.

Those are just a handful of verses from Scripture that you can pray while you anoint your home and family.

Like I said before, don’t stop here. Let the Lord lead you in how to pray when you anoint. Different seasons and circumstances will make your prayer and anointing change from time to time.
