Yeshua (Jesus) told the parable of a widow who continued to come to a wicked judge asking for justice against her adversary. This judge did not fear God or respect men. But after a while of the widow’s consistent asking, the judge finally gave her what she asked for (Luke 18).
Luke 18:1 tells the reason for the Lord telling this parable. It says, “He told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.“
Sometimes when we pray, our prayers won’t get answered right away.
This can lead us to losing our trust in the ability of God. It will lead to giving up. It may even lead to turning from your faith in God.
But from this parable the Lord is telling us to keep praying no matter what.
Matthew 7:7-8 states, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.“
When God isn’t answering your prayers, don’t turn from Him and lose faith. Instead continue to ask and seek Him.
Your prayer request may not be answered right away. God may answer “Yes” or “No” to your prayer. Or He may just be telling you to wait a while before He gives His answer of “Yes.” Or He may have a completely different answer in mind.
But whatever His answer may be, don’t stop praying.
Colossians 4:2 says to “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.”
Continue to come before God with your prayers even if He may seem silent.
“I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live” (Psalm 116:1-2).
The Lord hears you. He hears your prayers and your requests. There is a reason that He is not answering your prayers right away. There is a reason that He is silent. But still continue to pray to Him and to come to Him with all your request and problems.
In His amazing love,
