I love being a homemaker. There is so much fulfillment in caring for your home and family. But I’m not going to say it’s an easy job either. There is a lot of work that goes into caring for your home.
One thing I love about having a home is that I get to make it a piece of heaven. I want anyone who comes into my house to feel like this is the closest to heaven that they will get on earth, so to speak. I try to set a peaceful environment, keep God in the center, and welcome everyone with their spirits in mind.
Does that make sense? Your home can be used for God’s glory.
Both for your family and for anyone visiting you, they should be able to feel the presence of heaven when they walk through your door.

#1 Welcome the Lord’s Spirit.
If you want your home to be a piece of heaven you need to welcome the Holy Spirit. Pray God’s Spirit into your home and over your family. Ask Him to make His dwelling place within your walls.
#2 Get your own heart right.
If you want to bring heaven into your home you need to also bring heaven into your heart. Let everything you think and do be done for the glory of God. You can’t be bitter about cleaning up the same messes, picking up your husband’s clothes, rocking crying babies, whipping up something for unexpected company, or being up late with a toddler. Get your heart aligned with God’s priorities for your season and then focus on your home.
#3 Remove worldly things.
I do not believe that you can be following the Lord and watch certain things, listen to certain music, and own certain things. Ask yourself if what you possess and what you dwell on is truly pleasing to the Lord. We do not have the time to waste with unnecessary things of the world. It’s just a way for the enemy to control us.
#4 Anoint and bless your home regularly.
Anoint your home and bless it while you do so. This is just a physical act to welcome God’s Spirit into your house. It is a way to consecrate your dwelling place for the Lord. I love doing this during times of spiritual warfare and hard moments of life.
#5 Fill your home with Scripture.
You can do this by adding decor that has scripture written on it or by praying verses over your home. Make God’s Word active and alive within your home.
#6 Set an atmosphere of peace.
Our God is not a God of chaos. He is orderly and wise. Our homes should be the same. There is going to be so much peace in heaven so we need to work on cultivating that in our homes. Remove the clutter, establish systems, and make your home work for you.
#7 Practice faith.
When hard times come or when we fail as God’s daughters, practice faith. Believe that He will come through and that He will give us the strength to keep going. Continually pray and seek the Father. And just practice abundant faith each and every day.
Our homes will never completely look like heaven. But what if our homes were the closest thing that others see to God’s kingdom? How would that change so many lives?
