How Moms Can Have Time With the Lord Too

If you are currently in the season of mothering young ones you are probably up all night. Your time to yourself is very short if you can find any at all. And your quiet time with Lord may be falling to the back burner.

I get it! Right now I am currently in the season of motherhood where I am constantly surrounded by little ones all day long (and even throughout the night.)

Reading my Bible was not a priority of my for many years. And to be honest it still doesn’t happen many days throughout my week.

But I want to share that you can still have time with the Lord even if you are a mom to little ones.

Don’t feel like it’s impossible. Just know that your quiet time with the Lord will look different in this season. And that’s completely okay.

God sees what you’re going through. He understands the new struggles you may be facing as a mom. And what I absolutely love is that He comes to us as women in our current season. He loves you the same. You are His daughter.

So don’t get discouraged. It’s just time to change some things so that you can have time with the Lord too.

Here are some tips and things that I love to use to get time with the Lord each and every day.

Set time aside to spend with the Lord every day.

Schedule a specific time into your day and week to read your Bible and spend time with the Lord.

Know that this will not always happen though. You will get interrupted. Your kids will need you. And that’s okay.

But when you can, set that time aside for the Lord.

I make this a bit easier for you to do in my “Time for Me” planning page in my Biblical Homemaker’s Stack. Check that out here!

Read your Bible throughout the day.

Keep it open. Read a few sentences here and there. This is easier if you are reading though a book like Proverbs verses Numbers. But you get the idea.

It’s so much easier to think about reading your Bible too if you see it open around your home.

Listen to audio Bibles and Scripture songs throughout your day.

I love to do this when my day is just crazy and I know I’m not going to have time to sit down and physically read God’s Word.

My favorite audio Bible is from Peaceful Scriptures. And I also like Streetlights.

And some of my favorite Scripture music is from The Corner Room, Scripture Hymnal, and House of Psalms.

Teach your little ones God’s Word.

This way you are still learning and getting in Scripture yourself. And you are teaching your kids the Bible too!

Some of my favorite tools to help you do this can be found all here in this list! But this is one of my favorite books to make it super easy (especially if you have boys!)

Pray all throughout your day.

Make praying a habit that you are just continually doing throughout your day. Whether you day is hard, simple, busy, or in between, just keep praying.

And let your kids here you pray! Pray out loud while you are driving or doing chores around the house.

Devote your bath/shower time to God.

Let’s be real. This is about the only time we are truly alone in this season. And sometimes that isn’t even true depending on where you are in this journey of motherhood.

But I love devoting my bath time to the Lord.

This may look like just silently sitting in prayer while I go about my routine or turning on an audio Bible to listen to as I prepare for bed. It doesn’t have to be complicated.

Use a prayer journal.

If you have a hard time slowing down to pray throughout your day try prayer journaling.

I love doing this for everything in my life, over myself and husband, and over my kids. I just start writing a letter to God.

If you are looking for a great one, this journal is probably my favorite!

Just because you are a mom does not mean you don’t get to have time with the Lord.

It will just look a bit different than what your quiet time may have look like in your single years. And if we are being honest, it will probably not be quiet at all right now. But that’s the beauty of motherhood.
