If your life is anything like mine every day of your week isn’t always full of joy. There will be days that are filled with sadness, anxiety, fear, or confusion. Every day doesn’t make you feel good. But that is life.
God created us and our lives to go through ups and downs. That is His purpose so that we can grow and mature in our relationships with Him.
Those days that are not so full of joy are the days that we should be clinging to God and our relationship with Him the most.
And after you come to realize that every day of your week won’t be the greatest, you can implement some simple ways to bring a little joy to your days.
The ways that I am about list are just a few simple ways that bring me some joy when I’m needing it most. These simple ways are not going to fulfill you or bring you everlasting joy. God is the only one who can do that! But hopefully these ways may calm your anxious heart, help you breathe a little slower, and relax in your chaos.
Here you go!
- Read God’s Word (the Psalms are great for these times!) and pray.
- Listen to calming/worship music while you are driving.
- Bake, cook, dance, sew, or do whatever hobby you enjoy the most.
- Read a good book with a cup of your favorite tea.
- Go get coffee with friends.
- Pick or buy flower and set them in a place where you will see them often.
- Light candles or diffuse essential oils to make your surrounding smell good.
- Eat a little chocolate, ice cream, or your favorite treat.
- Make sure you’re hydrated.
- Take five minutes to clean one area of your home.
- Just sit in the sunshine for a few minutes.
- Take a walk outside.
- Do a simple workout.
- Journal about your day, your prayers, or your goals.
- Organize your closet, kitchen cabinets, or another area in your home.
- Invite a few friends over for a game night.
- Just lay or sit still and concentrate on your breath for five minutes.
Joy can always be found no matter what your week looks like.
If you apply any of the ways above to your life when you aren’t having the greatest week, I hope that they are able to help you and bring a little joy to your life. They are simple but sometimes simple can be the most powerful.
In His amazing love,
Hannah Marie
