A Letter to the Tired Mama

Dear tired mama,

No matter how many years you’ve been doing this or how many little ones you have, the tired feeling will come.

I’ve only been a mama for six months and have already seen my share of struggles, giggles, and tiredness.

In the back of our minds we wish we could put it off, take a break, and make it stop. But we can’t.

If we stop doing all the things, life will truly stop.

There are little ones who count on you, a home that needs your care, and a hundred tasks that need to be accomplished each day for their and your world to survive.

When it gets tiring, remember this is just a season. And if the laundry doesn’t get folded, the bathroom didn’t get cleaned, or dinner didn’t turn out the way you hoped, it’s okay. It’s okay on the days you cry and feel helpless. It’s okay during the times when your little one is screaming, the pot is burning, and flour has been spilt all over the floor.

It’s okay. Close your eyes, take a breath, and do one thing at a time.

God is with you. He knows your struggles and your tiredness.

But He will give you the strength you need.

“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

“The Lord replied, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’” (Exodus 33:14)

“God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them.” (Hebrews 6:10)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

Being the perfect mama is such a high standard to hold yourself to.

But being the perfect mama for your little ones is definitely achievable. Because you are already that for them.

You are their mama for a reason. And even on the hard days you are still the perfect mama. Go easy on yourself. Because they certainly love you.

In His amazing love,

Hannah Marie
