This year has been difficult for many. And I know that fear and worry have clouded most of our minds.
With all that has been going on in the past months, I know that it may be hard to be thankful. It may be hard to find joy when there is so much trouble around us.
But we must be grateful, even in the unexpected.
First Thessalonians 5:18 tells us, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
In all circumstances, give thanks.
Even in the unexpected, stressful, and fearful circumstances that you may be dealing with, still give thanks.
Being grateful in the unexpected is what God would ask of you.
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17)
Whatever you are going though, whatever you are doing, give thanks to your Heavenly Father.
He deserves your thanks because He loves you, protects you, and calls you His own. He sent His Son to redeem you and is waiting to bring you to Him.
But I realize that some days it may be difficult to be grateful. So here is a list of things you can go over and thank the Lord for when you are feeling less than thankful:
- God’s beautiful creation
- The simple things in life
- That God loves you
- God calls you His child
- You are alive and breathing
- You are perfectly made
- You have a God-given purpose
- There is no need to fear
- God is protecting you
- You have worth in the Messiah
There are so many other things that you can thank the Lord for, and I would encourage you to write out a list of things that you are thankful for. When you are feeling down, or when you are going through an unexpected season, look back at that list and thank the Lord for every one of those things. He is worthy of your thanks, and He wants you to show gratitude no matter the season you’re in.
In His amazing love,
Hannah Marie
Now it’s your turn! What are you thankful for today?
