How to Get Your Mothering in Order

There is such a need for women to get theirselves and their homes in order for the Lord. And if you are a mother that includes getting your mothering in order.

You are raising children for the kingdom of God.

The Lord did not just bless you with your children to raise to a certain age just so they can leave and live their own lives. He blessed you with them to raise as disciples for His work.

Mothering in such a difficult job but it is so needed. And it’s time that we start getting it in order for the Lord.

It’s not time to grow lazy in our mothering. We don’t need to be putting off the responsibility that the Lord has given us. It’s time to stand strong for our kids.

Below are five ways that you can begin to get your mothering in order for the Lord and His kingdom. I pray that they encourage you and push you to be the mother God desires you to be.

Realize that our strength in motherhood comes from the Lord.

We can not do motherhood alone. We need God and His Spirit guiding us each and everyday.

I try not to get out of bed in the morning without saying a quick prayer for strength, wisdom, and guidance for my day ahead.

There are so many uncertainties and struggles that come up when you are mothering littles. But with God it can be a beautiful and peaceful experience for both you and your children.

Also make sure that you are filling yourself up with God’s Word. That is how we get wisdom and guidance to do anything that we need to do. When we are in His Word daily motherhood becomes so much easier.

As the mom, you set the guidelines.

You get to set the rules in your home along with your husband. As the parents you are able to set the guidelines on what your family gets to watch, have in your home, do as a family, and so much more.

It can sometimes be tricky after having kids because you have more people in your home with opinions. But if you set those godly guidelines in the beginning and have solid reasons for doing so your children will respect that.

A few that you can start implementing to help with your mothering are things such as setting a quiet time for your home so you can make sure you get to read your Bible daily, deciding to stop watching certain shows because you know that they are not pleasing to the Lord or benefiting your kids, or establishing a weekly sabbath where you can reconnect as a family.

Live by example.

Do you know that your kids are going to follow what you do? So let them see you do what you are wanting them to do.

If you are yelling all day, they are going to yell. And if you are always stressed and upset, they will be too.

But if you speak with kindness and gentleness they will too. And if you create an atmosphere of peace so will they.

Live by example for them just like the Lord was an example for us as He walked this earth. Always have a servant’s heart and use those teaching opportunities as ways to show them how to respond in their everyday life.

Mothering and fathering are different.

In the Bible God separates the roles of mothers and fathers. We each have different ways of teaching and thinking. But our family needs both of us.

So don’t remove your husband’s role as a father by your actions or words. Your children need him just as much as they need you. Learn to embrace the differences in your roles and give all trust over to the Lord.

And there is a difference between biblical mothering and fathering that what the world portrays. This podcast episode dives into this wonderfully.

Teach your kids to go to the Lord.

You can do this both by your example and by teaching them how and when to do so.

Let them hear you pray out loud and see you in His Word. But also read the Bible to them and show them how to ask for help and wisdom from the Lord.

As it says in Deuteronomy 6:6-7, “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

We are commanded to teach our children the Words of the Lord. So don’t slack on this, mama. It is so important!

These are just a starting point to help you get your mothering in order for the Lord.
