Scriptures to Pray Through Every Moment of the Day

We are told to pray without ceasing. But for many, they don’t really know what that means.

As God’s children we are supposed to have a relationship with Him. That means we need to talk to Him like He is our best friend, ask His advice like a father, speak to Him like He is our Bridegroom, and come to Him when we are lost and afraid.

Praying may seem daunting or even difficult when we don’t know how to have a true relationship with the Lord. It takes practice, like any good relationship. So don’t give up.

If you don’t know how to continuously be praying and in communion with the Father I hope this post helps.

One way I love to pray is by using Scripture. There’s nothing like praying God’s Word back to Him.

And something I love about God’s Word is that there is a verse or passage for absolutely everything and for every occasion. You can turn to His Word when you don’t know what to do or say. It is so beautiful to pray His Word’s back to Him.

I’m going to share some Scripture below that you can pray through every moment of the day. From morning until late at night you can use these verses to pray to your Heavenly Father.

Morning

Before you even start your day, pray one or all of these verses to get your heart and mind focused on the Lord for the day.

Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.“ (‭‭Psalm‬ ‭90‬:‭14‬)

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.“ (‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3‬:‭22‬-‭23‬)

Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.“ (Psalm‬ ‭143‬:‭8‬)

Before Noon

While you are going about your daily responsibilities, running errands, tending to little ones, working at your job, or doing whatever takes up the majority of your day make time to pray to the Lord. Make your normal tasks a time to come to Him in prayer.

Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!” (1 Chronicles 16:11)

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)

May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!” (Psalm 29:11)

Noon

You are halfway through the day and it can be hard to keep an upright spirit. I find that this is one of the best times to turn to Scripture for me.

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” (1 Chronicles 16:34)

I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.” (Psalm 9:1)

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16)

Afternoon

For me the afternoon is either crunch time or extremely slow. It just depends on the day. No matter what your afternoons look like either one of these verses will be great to pray.

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.” (Philippians 1:9-10)

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Evening

I pray the most in the evenings. It is my time to slow down after a busy day. And these are some of the verses I like to pray during this time.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27)

For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6)

Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.” (Psalm 34:14)

Late Nights

This time of day may not apply to everyone. But I know that there are many mothers who are up late and awake throughout the night with their little ones. Those times can get exhausting and overwhelming. I know. So try praying these scriptures during those times and see how your heart changes.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8)

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” (Exodus 15:2)

Our prayers are like a sweet aroma to our Father. And He loves when we pray His Word back to Him.

Start here and pray these scriptures throughout every moment of your day to stay in tune with your Heavenly Father. It will change your walk of faith and how you go about your normal, everyday responsibilities. Try it this week and see how much it will change you.

You can write these verses out and put them in places around your home. Tape the ones for the morning on your bathroom mirror. Put the ones for noon in your kitchen. And place the ones for the late nights by your bed.

God will move when you pray. Keep practicing and going back to His Word.
