She was torn from all she knew, made to live among the king’s harem, and now was to be the new queen.
Esther was more than your average woman.
She found favor in the king’s eyes. But she was more than just a beautiful woman.
She knew her purpose as a daughter of God, and it showed.
In today’s society, women who follow God’s purpose and role for their lives are looked upon as weak and stupid.
But Esther gives us a great example of a woman who lived her life with God’s purpose and role in mind.
She lived with a passion.
Esther knew that she was made queen “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). And knowing this made her passionately pursue a way to help her people.
The passion that led Esther came from God. If she would have let something else fuel her passion, things may have not turned out like they did.
She was a prayer warrior.
When she discovered that Haman was planning to kill all of the Jews, her people, Esther decided to fast and pray for three days.
Esther says in Esther 4:16 “Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.“
Instead of taking the matter into her own hands, Esther gave it to the Lord. Because her passion was fueled by God, she gave the problem to Him.
She was courageous.
According to the customs of that day, nobody came into the inner court of the king’s palace. Esther 4:16 says it is against the law!
She had to have a lot of courage to approach the king and ask him her request. She had to have courage to expose Haman’s plot and confess that she was a Jew.
All of the courage that Esther had came from God. Instead of having courage in herself and her abilities, Esther had courage that God was going make everything work out in the end.
Esther lived with passion, was a prayer warrior, and had courage. But she was also so much more.
There are many other great character traits that you can discover in Esther. But these were just a few.
Esther is a great example of a woman of purpose. She lived her life following God’s will. And doing so changed the course of history.
In His amazing love,
Hannah Marie
