Today is the day! Sex, Purity, and the Longings of a Girl’s Heart by Kristen Clark and Bethany Beal is officially released!
I had the wonderful opportunity to be on this books launch team. And what a wonderful blessing it was!
As a member of the launch team, I received a copy of the book early. It was such an easy and insightful read. And I want to give you my honest review of Sex, Purity, and the Longings of a Girl’s Heart.
In today’s culture, sex and purity are hot topics.
Many women deal with lust and other sexual sins daily. But they are too afraid to speak up and ask the hard questions.
Why do I have these sexual desires? Isn’t lust only a guy problem? If God created sex, why doesn’t the church address it more?
These are all good questions, and there are so many more that women are concerned about. The questions you have are not wrong. Your want to understand your sexual design is a good thing.
And Sex, Purity, and the Longings of a Girl’s Heart will answer all of your hard questions.
Kristen and Bethany address topics such as lust, pornography, masturbation, same-sex attraction, purity, and your sexual design as a woman of God.
There is a quote in the book that is so true:
“So much of the confusion surrounding our sexuality is a result of being discipled by the world. The only way to redeem our sexuality is to turn back to the One who created us. Instead of continuing to listen to the world and our sinful hearts, we need to be discipled by the One who designed us. The One who loves us and created us. The One who understands our sexuality and has a good and beautiful plan for it” (p. 22).
As the book unfolds and the tough questions and concerns are answered, you will discover God’s true design for sex. You will see the real reason God created your want for intimacy. And you will learn how to leave your sinful past behind and let God turn your ashes into beauty.
In chapter 6, the Kristen and Bethany write:
“What God has to offer us is a thousand times better than the watered-down pleasures of society. His design for sex, marriage, and womanhood is stunningly beautiful. He is for these things and wants to show us how to embrace them rightly. When we take God at His word and put our trust in His plan, we will experience true freedom as never before” (p. 75).
I cannot unpack all that this book has to offer in this short post. But you can grab a copy for yourself and dive into all that it has to offer.
Whatever questions you have about your sexual past, whatever sexual sin you are dealing with now, this book will be an encouragement to you. Or if you just want to learn more about your God-given sexual design, this book will shed some light on this subject.
