Children are a gift from the Lord. And as parents we are responsible for their upbringing both physically and spiritually.
Our children are a blessing to us but they are ultimately His. The Lord has given us the responsibility of them but we must work on giving them back to Him.
One way we can care for our children is by praying for them and over them.
Praying for their futures, their health, their walk with the Lord, their character, and anything else is just so important no matter how old your children are.
And praying scripture over your children is also so important and so beautiful.
Below are some verses that are great to pray for and over your children:
Proverbs 3:24
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.
Psalm 121:8
“The Lord will keep you from evil; He will keep you safe. He will protect you as you come and go, now and forever.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
Proverbs 3:7-8
“Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.”
Romans 12:2
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
“To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 10:13
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”
Proverbs 4:23, 25-27
“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.”
Start with these verses and keep praying for your children.
There are so many other verses to pray over your children that you can incorporate into your days too. And I always say to just let the Spirit lead you in your prayers with what your kids need.
But again, praying for your children is just so important no matter how old they are. So start no matter if they are 2 months or 20 years old. They need your prayers.
In His amazing love,
Hannah Marie
